Well Rusk & Rusk have done it again! Having previously enjoyed delicious meals at their other restaurants in Glasgow ‘The Spanish Butcher’ and ‘The Butchershop’, this time it was the turn of newly refurbished Hutchesons City Grill. It did not disappoint.
The refurb of Hutchesons is stunning, it feels like you’ve stepped back in time to a New York speakeasy. The 158 Club Lounge is the bar downstairs, it’s rich interiors and seductive lighting make it a stylish first stop before you head upstairs for dinner. If you swing by on Friday evenings, you can toast to the weekend with Oyster Happy Hour, where from 5-7pm, guests can enjoy £1 oysters at the bar before continuing the night with the resident DJ.

Upstairs at the City Grill, the decor gets even better. A grand, double-high ceiling with the same rich furnishings as downstairs. I was there to try out their ‘Tails from the Grill’ Menu which is a Tuesday night menu for 2 people. I have also had the stylish ‘Bubbles & Brunch’ menu with the girls at the weekend, stepping out on a Saturday for prosecco and brunch like we were in Sex & The City!

With the Tails From The Grill menu, you and a friend can enjoy a 35 day dry-aged rump of Scotch beef, topped with grilled Atlantic prawns, a side of ox tail croquettes, fries and a bottle of house wine for just £40. We chose to have our steak rare and for good measure we added on 2 sides that you pay extra for (because we’re extra like that 😂) – macaroni cheese and seasonal greens. But you don’t need to do this, we were just being greedy. For the quality of the food and beautiful surroundings, it really is such a great value deal. Perfect if you want a mid-week catch up with a friend without the large price tag a steak & wine diner normally carries. I will definitely be back on my next visit to Glasgow!
