Zack and I stayed in St Andrews this weekend at the beautiful Hotel Du Vin St Andrews. Set on an idyllic terrace overlooking St Andrews Bay and the Old Course. It was the perfect little luxury escape while we celebrated a friends wedding. We stayed in the Bowmore room which feels like a self contained apartment in the basement of the boutique hotel. It is the only room on the level and can either be accessed from it’s own private exterior entrance or from within the hotel.
The Bowmore room is in the basement of the Hotel Du Vin townhouse so doesn’t have a lot of natural light. For me, that added to the relaxation of the weekend. The Bowmore room felt like a self contained flat, a real luxury home from home.
The bed was was ridiculously comfy, so much so even coffee couldn’t get me out of it on Sunday morning.
The room was an absolute dream, a separate lounge and seating area where I could set up my laptop and get a little work done. The bed looked on to an open plan living area with two televisions – one for the bed and one for the sofa. The room had SO many power outlets which I loved, because it is the most annoying thing when you can’t get easy access to a plug when and where you need one. Especially when you have a wedding to get ready for!
The bathroom was beautiful, stocked with a few mini essential REN products. I was disappointed that there was no bath, but the shower was fantastic. A waterfall showerhead with great pressure. The decor was very clean, white and crisp – the epitome of luxury!
There was a chargeable snack box available, with a complimentary Lavazza coffee pod machine.
Although we didn’t have dinner at Hotel Du Vin during our stay, we did relax in the bar with our complimentary Macallans. The gentlemen’s club decor continues throughout the hotel, I love the deep warm colours with comfortable lounge furniture.
Hotel Du Vin is definitely not for those on a budget. It was high season while we stayed as it was August and there was a golf tournament on in St Andrews, so the Bowmore room cost £255 per night (we stayed for two) for Bed & Breakfast. There was free on-street parking and some private parking spaces at the back of the hotel. We were lucky enough to have the new Lamborghini Performante for the weekend so tucked it up safely in a private space behind the hotel.
You can book the ‘Eat.Love.Stay’ offer at Hotel Du Vin where you can enjoy a three course dinner from the Fixed Price menu, a glass of wine per person and an overnight stay in one of their luxurious rooms. Snuggle up in the Egyptian cotton that cries out to be snuggled into and feast on a full breakfast the next morning to set you up for the day ahead, from just £145 per room (depending on location) BOOK HERE.
On the way home we stopped off for fish & chips at the famous Anstruther Fish Bar.
