I was invited to experience the HydraFacial at Beyond Medispa Edinburgh, the results were amazing. I can see why everyone is raving about it. Before the HydraFacial I experienced the Visia Complexion Analysis which scans your skin to let you see what you can’t physically see. I was blown away by this and recommend everyone gets one.
This is a complementary service you can receive before a facial at Beyond Medispa that gives you an insight into what is going on underneath your skin and the concerns you should be addressing. It also allows your therapist to tailor your treatment to your specific needs. The technology scans your face to show you underlying issues such as spots, wrinkles, texture, pores, uv spots, brown spots, red areas and bacteria. It is a little terrifying at first to see all these lines & dots highlighted all over your face, but Jade (my therapist) was so knowledgable and helped me understand what it all meant and what the causes may be.
When you look at my before picture (below) you won’t physically see much wrong on the surface of my skin, that’s why the Visia Complexion Analysis is so great. It highlighted for me concerns such as UV spots, uneven texture, congestion and environmental bacteria. Following the Visia Complexion Analysis, Jade could determine what to focus on in my facial; a thorough exfoliation and peel getting rid of all the dead skin calls that were congesting my skin, followed by a deep cleanse.
Consisting of six stages, the unique HydraFacial helps to detoxify the skin, remove dead skin cells, extract any debris and provide long lasting hydration and essential nutrient support that protects and rebuilds collagen levels. The philosophy of the HydraFacial is about not just improving the appearance of the skin, but truly restoring youthful, healthy skin.
Step 1;
Involved a light Lymphatic massage to increase circulation and blood flow to the area, bringing lots of fresh oxygen and nutrients to support the cells and rehydrate, tone, firm and eliminate toxins.
Step 2;
The USP of the HydraFacial . . . using their patented wand tip, a concentrated flow of water is used to gently exfoliate your skin. Dead skin cells are removed to reveal healthy, new skin whilst, simultaneously, a serum containing lactic acid, glucosamine and many botanical extracts is delivered deeply to cleanse and nourish the skin.
Step 3;
Now all the debris has been removed from the surface of your skin, a gentle glycolic and salicylic solution helps loosen debris from your pores ready for the extraction stage whilst brightening the appearance of the skin.
Step 4;
Effortless and painless extractions helps to remove black heads and draw out impurities in congested areas using a serum of natural salicylic acid and honey extract. I was so excited about this, if you’ve ever had a bad extraction experience you’ll understand why. The HydraFacial did not disappoint – it literally sucks out impurities painlessly.
Step 5;
HydraFacial Vortex-Fusion technology delivers a cocktail of hydrating hyaluronic acid and the most advanced and powerful antioxidants, peptides and multi peptides to replenish the skin leaving it hydrated, plumped up and promoting optimum skin health.
Step 6;
Red and infrared LED light is used to reduce redness and further stimulate collagen. The light also helps the natural production of vitamin D leaving your skin glowing. Blue LED light kills the p-bacteria acne which are the bacteria on the skin and one of the causes of acne. This reduces future breakouts and also helps calm down existing ones.
At the end of it all you can actually see what has been sucked out of your face, don’t judge me for sharing. It’s grossly satisfying to know all that has come out of your face. You will leave feeling squeaky clean and not wanting to wear makeup for a week. After seeing my bacteria image on the Visia I was even scared to go back outside and expose my squeaky clean skin to the city’s pollution.
You can see from my after photo, which was literally straight after, there is no redness at all. My skin felt tight, but not in a bad way. Probably because of all the excess oil and dirt that had just been sucked out.
Despite its use of glycolic and salicylic acids, the HydraFacial MD was gentle and non-irritating. In the few days post-facial, I can confidently say that my pores in areas are certainly smaller and appear less congested.
5 days after facial – Ok I have to say I LOOOVE this facial. I did experience a tiny dry patch at the bottom of jawline, but that has now cleared and my skin is looking great. I’ve noticed the most difference on the skin around my nose (pores) and the skin on my forehead (brighter & tighter). Jade let me go with some excellent post-facial beauty tips for my skin type; to make sure when I am double cleaning that one of my cleanses is a treatment cleanser for oily/congested skin, so when I exfoliate my pores will be clear so the exfoliator can do it’s work in the dermis of my skin.
