KUKUI (EDP) – CONNOCK LONDON

CONNOCK LONDON KUKUI

This is a long-standing favourite of mine (and Zack’s). In fact, I am on my third bottle and handbag size and all this time later Zack still tells me how good I smell every time I wear it. Actually every single person I meet tells me how good I smell every time I wear it. Connock London’s signature scent Kukui, has been blended to reflect the soul and beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. It is a scent I haven’t experienced anything alike before, it is very feminine without being overtly sexy or girly. It is a rich, warm floral fragrance built around the Gardenia flower complimented by a full bouquet of fresh flowers including Italian Bergamot, Moroccan Rose, White Jasmine and Calla Lily.  The warming notes come from Sandalwood, Vetiver, White Amber and layers of cashmere and sheer musks, completed with the rich bitter chocolate sweetness of Vanilla Absolute and Tonka Bean. There is something very exotic about Kukui EDP with underlying sophistication.

TOP NOTES: Gardenia, Italian Bergamot, Moroccan Rose, White Jasmine and Calla Lily.

HEART NOTES: Sandalwood, Vetiver, White Amber.

BASE NOTES: Vanilla Absolute and Tonka Bean.

ROSE IN WONDERLAND – ATKINSONS 1799

ATKINSONS ROSE IN WONDERLAND

A ROSE IS A ROSE, IS A ROSE . . . OR IS IT ?

This is a stunning rose fragrance that takes me back to walking through a beautiful garden where the scent of the rose mixes with the grass and the trees. Fresh, green and floral with no hint of that sickly sweetness that can come with synthetic rose fragrances, Rose in Wonderland is the perfect embodiment of a modern rose with an air of mischievousness. At first spray this is very floral, then develops a dreamy perfume with earthy tones. I think this is a stunning day-fragrance, and would also be lovely layered with a headier scent, like Etui Noir, for the evening. The ‘Wonderland’ element of the name hints that this fragrance may not be all that you are expecting. Instead of a girly fragrance that I thought it would be, I was surprised to find a sharp fragrance – a strong blackcurrant scent offsets to soft petal notes. It is a gentle, feminine fragrance with an air of mystery behind it. I imagine the French Aristocratic ladies wearing this walking through the Gardens of Versailles with an air of innocence while planning their evening at the notorious parties, a deceptively innocent beauty.

TOP NOTES: Rose Dew accord & Blackcurrant buds

HEART NOTES: Geranium & Rose Centifolia Absolute

BASE NOTES: Vetiver & Cristal Amber

ÉTUI NOIR – MILLER HARRIS

MILLER HARRIS ETUI NOIR

Étui Noir is a scent that makes you feel instantly sexy. The scent is so magnetic, suddenly you are enveloped by an air of mysteriousness and sensuality. You know you will turn heads when you walk through a room. It makes me feel very Parisian when I wear it, like I have that enviable ‘je ne sais quoi’ that all Parisian women seem to have so effortlessly. It is a deep, intoxicating fragrance with notes of iris, patchouli and leather. As the name suggests, Etui Noir has a deep, dark, woody warmth. The brand describe it as being “like a well-worn leather jacket shared by lovers with comforting flashbacks of each other”.  It’s very magnetising and mysterious as it could be either a male or female fragrance, settling differently on the skin to create a soft yet powerful scent. A scent to attract. This could also make a valentine’s gift for him!

TOP NOTES: Bergamot Italy EO, Tangerine, Elemi Gum.

HEART NOTES: Iris Butter Morocco, Incense, Cashmere Wood, Styrax EO.

BASE NOTES: Patchouli Indonesia EO, Vetiver Haiti EO, Leather, Amber, Birch EO, Labdanum Abs.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Scent Of A Dream is divine, I feel in love with it the second I saw the bottle and fell even harder as soon as I tried this seductive fragrance.
